The next Courage Ride is set for later this summer.

The event is an annual charity bike ride benefiting the University of Iowa’s sarcoma cancer research program. Organizers have announced the next ride will take place Saturday, August 12th. The ride offers five route options for cyclists. Activites, entertainment and a silent auction are also open to non-riders. A virtual ride option is also available for riders who can’t take part in person.

Riders will leave Big Grove Brewery & Taproom in Iowa City beginning at 7:00 a.m. Route options include a 19 mile ride, 37 mile ride, 57 mile ride, 86 mile ride and a 100 mile ride, all with rest stops with water, food and live music.

Courage Ride is in its 19th year and has raised nearly $800,000 since it began in 2005. All proceeds from the event go to the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center Sarcoma Research Program at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Courage Ride donations make up 85% of all sarcoma seed grant funding at the university.

Online registration is now open. Riders can save $10 by registering now through August 4. Early adult registration is $75. Beginning August 5, adult registration will be $85. On-site registration Friday, August 11 and the day of the ride will be $90. Youth registration (13-17) is $15. Registration includes breakfast and lunch, entertaining rest stops and SAG support.
