An Iowa City armed robbery suspect has reached a plea deal.

Court documents show on Friday, Judge Paul Miller granted a plea hearing for 22-year-old Calvin Beemer. That hearing is set for July 28th.

Beemer is accused of coming to a residence in the Cole’s manufactured housing community on South Riverside Drive on February 19th and confronting and assaulting the victim while displaying a replica gun. He then reportedly pointed it in the victim’s direction and threatened to kill them.

Beemer then allegedly tried to force the victim into his Chevy Silverado before punching them in the nose, causing bleeding.  Beemer then took the victim’s cellphone.
Arriving officers located Beemer in his truck, activated their lights and ordered him out of the vehicle. He reportedly ignored police, drove away, then fled on foot.

Beemer is charged with 1st Degree Robbery and Interference with Official Acts. If convicted on both counts, he could have been sentenced to over 25 years in prison. Terms of the plea deal have not been released.
