A Coralville man was arrested Sunday morning after allegedly throwing a chair at a woman he has been in a relationship with for approximately a year.
According to the arrest report, 51-year-old Rene German and the victim stay at the same residence three times a week. Sunday’s incident occurred at the victim’s Iowa City apartment. During a verbal altercation, German allegedly threw a chair at the woman, hitting her in the head. She suffered a bruise on her forehead.
When questioned, German admitted to the assault.
He was taken into custody and charged with Domestic Abuse Assault causing Injury, a serious misdemeanor punishable by a jail term of up to a year if convicted.
