A West Des Moines man has been arrested after investigators determined he allegedly provided a firearm to the man who reportedly shot an individual at the Clock Tower Ramp over the weekend.
According to the police report, 22-year-old Marquel Poole was in possession of a firearm last Saturday night, and was seen on video transferring that firearm to another individual, believed to be 22-year-old Alexander Voudhivong of Iowa City. Voudhivong then reportedly shot a man multiple times in the parking ramp and fled the scene, changing clothes nearby in an attempt to disguise himself before leaving the area.
Poole is a convicted felon and as such is prohibited from possessing dangerous weapons.
A warrant was issued for his arrest, and he was taken into custody Wednesday night. He’s been charged with Dominion or Control of a Firearm as a Felon, a Class D Felony punishable by a prison term of up to five years if convicted.
Poole was given a deferred judgement on weapons and rioting charges after police say he was part of an attack on two other people in the Capitol Street parking ramp in June of 2021. Police say he was also involved in a shooting incident on the 500 block of Scott Boulevard the next month. Poole reportedly had guns on his person during each incident.
Poole pleaded guilty to a Carrying Weapons charge after he was found with a handgun after a fight with the staff of Pints while he was working as a University of Iowa Safety Ambassador in January of 2021. He agreed to public service in lieu of paying fines.
