Cedar Rapids Police investigating Sunday accident resulting in two deaths

Cedar Rapids Police are investigating an early Sunday morning traffic accident that resulted in two deaths and three injuries.

Preliminary investigations indicate a Dodge Caliber was traveling east on Williams Boulevard SW just before 3 am and began to spin out-of-control.  That vehicle struck a westbound Toyota Rav 4.  The 23-year-old driver of the Dodge Caliber was pronounced deceased at the scene.  The 29-year-old passenger in the Dodge Caliber also passed away following treatment at a local hospital.

Three adult passengers in the Toyota Rav 4 all sustained serious, but not-life-threatening injuries and were also transported to a local hospital for medical care.

Names of those involved are being withheld pending family notification.
