A transient has been fined after kicking a doctor in the head at Mercy hospital.

Iowa City Police were initially called to Shelter House just before 6:15 Wednesday night for a woman who had been trespassed from the Southgate Avenue facility starting a fight. 37-year-old Elizabeth Leiss reportedly showed signs of intoxication and was carrying an open 500ml bottle of vodka.

Leiss was taken to Mercy Iowa City to sober up. While there, she allegedly kicked a doctor in the head.

Leiss pleaded guilty on Thursday to charges of Disorderly Conduct, Public Intoxication and Trespassing and was fined a total of $470.

Leiss is still facing charges from an incident in March where she allegedly kicked an Iowa City Police officer in the face as she was being taken into custody for shoplifting at the Waterfront Hy-Vee.

Leiss is also facing multiple theft and assault charges from previous incidents, including several against police, as well as one in which she allegedly threatened another woman with a knife at Goodwill on Highway 6 East.
