A North Liberty man who called 911 saying he was being held against his will ended up being charged with domestic assault.

The incident occurred at a residence on Sara Court just after 3 am Thursday. 19-year-old Mason Jiles of Holiday Lodge Road reportedly called the emergency number to report being held against his will.  When officers arrived on scene, they spoke with a woman who allegedly stated at first that Jiles wasn’t currently on the scene.  She then stated that Jiles assaulted her, causing injury to her neck and knee.  The woman then alleged that Jiles had grabbed her by the throat multiple times, preventing her from breathing.

When questioned, Jiles said that the woman was preventing him from leaving the residence, and denied any physical altercation with her. He instead alleged that the woman’s injuries were self-inflicted.

Police arrested Jiles and charged him with Domestic Abuse Assault impeding Airflow, a Class D Felony punishable by a prison term of up to five years if convicted. A no-contact order was requested between the two parties involved.
