Johnson County deputy stops to help motorcyclist with disabled vehicle, finds he has four warrants for his arrest

A Johnson County Sheriff’s deputy stopping to help a motorcyclist with his disabled vehicle learned the man had four warrants for his arrest.

Arrest records indicate a deputy was on routine patrol on State Street in Oxford just before 5pm Tuesday when he noticed a subject leave an apartment, get on a motorcycle and drive around the block before breaking down. When the deputy went to check on the man…identified as 55-year-old Luis Cautino Rovira of North Liberty…he learned he was barred from driving and had four outstanding warrants for his arrest. The warrants stem from an April 27^th incident where Cautino Rovira parked his car in front of the Sports Column on South Dubuque Street…despite having a barred license…and walked to the Ped Mall with a woman who has a no-contact order against him.

Cautino Rovira faces a Driving While Barred charge, as well as the previous charges of Driving While Barred, Driving While Suspended, Driving While Denied or Revoked and a No-Contact Order Violation. If convicted on all charges, he faces a maximum of four years in jail.
