A University of Iowa search committee has announced the second finalist for the next vice president for medical affairs and dean of the Carver College of Medicine.

Mark I. Rosenblatt is executive dean of the University of Illinois College of Medicine and associate vice chancellor for physician affairs at University of Illinois Health. He is also the Illinois Lions/Charles I. Young Chair in Ocular Research and professor of ophthalmology and visual sciences. His scientific work focuses on investigating the mechanism of corneal peripheral nerve regeneration following injury and the use of nanoengineered biomaterials for use in stem cell delivery to the ocular surface.

Rosenblatt will meet with faculty, staff, students, shared governance, and campus leadership during a campus visit over the next two days.  He will participate in an open forum from noon to 1 p.m. today at the Medical Education Research Facility. A Zoom option also is available below.

Those interested can access Rosenblatt’s curriculum vitae and leave feedback at now.uiowa.edu.

Rosenblatt follows Denise J. Jamieson, who visited campus last week. She is the James Robert McCord Professor and Chair for the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics at Emory University School of Medicine and chief of gynecology and obstetrics for Emory Healthcare.

A date announcing the successful finalist has not yet been provided.
