Mandi Remington announces candidacy for Iowa City Council

Mandi Remington, a dedicated community leader and the founder of Corridor Community Action, has officially announced her candidacy for the Iowa City Council.

In a release from her campaign, Remington brings a wealth of experience in community engagement, coalition-building, and social justice work to the race.

Remington has served on numerous boards and committees, including the Iowa City Community Police Review Board, University of Iowa Council for the Status of Women, University of Iowa Safety & Security Committee, and UI Center for Disabilities and Development Unit Council and DEI committees.

Remington’s campaign is centered around her core values of social justice, accessibility, equity, inclusivity, partnership, engagement, and environmental sustainability. She has outlined a comprehensive platform that includes initiatives focused on affordable housing, childcare, healthcare, climate action, support for local workers, and public transportation.

In the release, Remington stated, “I believe in a transparent and inclusive government that listens to the needs and concerns of all community members. I believe that, with such a government, we can work together to make Iowa City an even better place to live, work, raise a family, and thrive, and I am excited to be a part of that effort.”
