A former Linn County teacher reached a plea deal with prosecutors and will be sentenced on an aggravated misdemeanor instead of a Class D felony.
KWWL reports former Center Point-Urbana Middle School teacher Adam Hildebrandt pleaded guilty on Friday to attempting to entice a 13 year-old girl by sending her inappropriate, sexual messages. Police say the 40-year-old sent multiple messages to the student between June 1st and 7th 2021. Hildebrandt reportedly said that he loved her and commented on her physical characteristics.
Prosecutors dismissed a more serious charge of Sexual Exploitation by a School Employee in exchange for the guilty plea.
Hildebrandt will be sentenced June 27th and faces up to two years in prison and a fine.
