An Iowa City man was arrested Sunday night after allegedly pointing a gun during a road rage incident.
Police say the incident occurred near South Scott Boulevard and Muscatine Avenue just before 8pm. 25-year-old Isaac Puaina was reportedly involved in the incident, and was accused of producing a black handgun by holding it outside his vehicle while the victim’s vehicle was behind him.
A traffic stop was initiated on Puaina when he was located, and he was given multiple commands to exit the vehicle. Puaina instead reportedly argued with police and refused to get out of his vehicle. He finally did step out, and was placed into custody. A replica pistol was reportedly found in plain view on the driver side door.
Puaina was charged with 2nd degree Harassment and Interference with Official Acts. If convicted on both counts, he could be sentenced to up to 13 months in jail.
