An Iowa City man faces a prostitution charge despite being turned down by the target of his affection.
That’s according to Iowa City Police, who were called to a reported domestic dispute at a Muscatine Avenue apartment just before 7:15pm on February 27th. Arriving officers say a woman left the apartment while its resident, 55-year-old Otis Williams, covered his genitals with a pair of boxer shorts that were in his hand. He was also sweating profusely.
Williams allegedly told police he invited the woman over to “get high”, then offered her $200 to have sex with him. The woman refused the offer, but tried to leave with the money anyway, leading to the argument. The woman claimed Williams offered her the money for cleaning his apartment.
Because he reportedly offered money for sex, Williams was charged with Prostitution, an Aggravated Misdemeanor punishable by a maximum of two years in jail.
Williams was booked into the Johnson County Jail just after 9:30 Friday night.
