A perceived threat against City High School was investigated and dismissed earlier this week.
That’s according to The Daily Iowan, which reports officials with the Iowa City Community School District received word of a possible online threat against City High on Thursday. An investigation determined the “threat” was an old post that originated in New Mexico and referenced “CHS”, which is a common abbreviation for “City High School”. Investigators say there is no indication the post specifically referenced City High. The same post was brought to the district’s attention in 2018.
An Iowa City Police officer was stationed at City High on Friday as a precaution.
District officials are on alert for such threats after fake active shooter calls on March 21st and two different bomb threats against Northwest Junior High days later.
