Cedar Rapids Police make arrest in 2020 murder

Cedar Rapids Police have made an arrest in a 2020 murder.

On May 22nd of that year, 69-year old Daniel Spangler was located deceased in his home by CRPD officers during a welfare check. Investigators determined that Spangler was shot by an intruder during an attempted burglary.

20-year-old Damontie Haggstrom-Wells of Cedar Rapids, has now been charged in connection with the murder. He was currently in prison on other, unrelated charges

He faces three counts; first degree Murder, first degree Attempted Burglary, and Going Armed with Intent.

Haggstrom-Wells was also charged with Attempted Murder and 1st degree Burglary in connection with a burglary that occurred the day before the Spangler murder.
