Allegedly smoking crack inside an Iowa City facility meant to house the chronically homeless has led to the arrest of a local transient.

57-year-old Ladonna Shaw was booked into the Johnson County Jail just before 7:15 Saturday morning. Iowa City Police say Shaw was present inside an apartment at The 501 Project on Southgate Avenue when a search warrant was executed by Iowa City Police just after 8:15pm on February 7th. Officers say they observed Shaw smoking crack with another individual. A search of Shaw’s purse reportedly turned up a marijuana joint and a crack pipe with burnt residue.

Shaw is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. If convicted on both charges, she faces a maximum of 13 months in jail.
