Four special elections today in Johnson County

Four special elections are being held today in Johnson County.

Polls are open until 8 tonight in the College Community and Solon School districts, as well as the City of Swisher and  the Lone Tree Community School District.

Voters in the College Community School District will vote on a ten-year property tax levy of 67 cents per thousand dollars in assessed value to pay for school and municipal improvements starting with fiscal year 2024.

In Solon, voters will decide on a $25.5 million bond to build an addition to Solon Intermediate School, renovate Lakeview Elementary, build a new Administrative building, construct a new multipurpose indoor activity facility, and install a new field at Spartan Stadium.

The Swisher special election involves voters deciding on whether the city should establish their own Municipal Waterworks Utility.

The Lone Tree Community School District is voting on whether or not to adopt a revenue purpose statement to authorize the expenditure of revenue from the State of Iowa Secure an Advanced Vision for Education Fund received by the District.
