An Iowa City man who was sentenced to ten years in prison for abuse of an underage girl earlier this month was sentenced this week for receiving child pornography.

21-year-old Luke Beckner was convicted in 2022 on two federal counts of unlawful receipt of child pornography after Snapchat records revealed that Beckner had hundreds of conversations with minors, some of which sent him explicit photos and videos.

Beckner faced a minimum of ten years and up to 40 years of prison time; he was given a 14 year sentence and 8 years of supervised release.

Beckner was sentenced to ten years in prison and lifetime parole earlier this month after allegedly committing sexual abuse on a 14-year-old girl. He was 19 at the time he met the girl on Snapchat. Over a four-week period, he picked her up on different occasions and reportedly drove her to his home to have sex. The victim’s account was corroborated by evidence obtained by investigators.

Beckner will also be on the sex offender registry for life once released.
