A Chicagoland man wanted on a warrant for allegedly driving a stolen vehicle this past summer was arrested early Thursday.

According to police, 24-year-old Emil Simmons of Calumet Park Illinois was reported as a reckless driver of a stolen vehicle the afternoon of August 25th.  An Iowa City officer attempted to stop the vehicle by activating lights and siren but Simmons reportedly continued. He reached speeds exceeding 25 miles per hour over the speed limit before the pursuit was terminated.

Simmons was stopped by Cedar Rapids police a short time later after attempting to elude them.

A warrant was issued for his arrest the next day. He was booked at the Johnson County Jail just after 3:30 am Thursday and was charged with Eluding and Speeding. He could be sentenced to up to five years in prison if convicted on the Eluding charge.
