COVID-19 infections rose for the second straight week, according to the weekly report issued by the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services.
The Gazette reports infections in Iowa increased by just over 7 percent, from 1,517 last week, to 1,626 this week. As usual, the actual number of new cases is probably higher because of positive home tests that haven’t been reported.
Johnson County cases increased, but only by two cases. In Linn County, reported infections went up by 16 to 141.
Two new deaths in Johnson County were part of the 28 confirmed deaths due to COVID in the past week. That brings the total of deaths due to COVID in Iowa to 10,653.
