Members of the Service Employees International Union who work at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics will be picketing outside the main campus today

In a release from the union, the informational picket will be held to continue the push to make sure essential workers at UIHC who care for Iowa families are respected, protected and paid.

Last week 3,800 nurses and other healthcare professionals at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics who are members of the union expressed frustration and anger as representatives of the Iowa Board of Regents refused to bargain when they had a scheduled bargaining date. The Union filed a Prohibited Practice Complaint (PPC) alleging the Board of Regents are failing to fulfill their duty to bargain in good faith.

The picketers will be on the public sidewalk at the corner of Melrose and Hawkins Drive between 6:30 and noon today.
