The Shelter house resident accused of assaulting police twice last week has now been charged for violating the sex offender registry.
According to arrest reports, 37- year-old Kayleigh Heath had been previously trespassed from the Waterfront HyVee and was called in for refusing to leave on January 5th. She allegedly pushed and punched the responding officer’s chest and resisted arrest. This past Saturday, Heath was also charged with Criminal Mischief after allegedly keying two cars and trying to write on an apartment building’s dryer. She was additionally charged after trying to stab the officers with the pen she was using after they tried to take it from her.
On Monday, Heath was at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics on Hawkins Drive and was discovered to be a registered sex offender with a last known address as her mother’s residence in Marion. Marion PD confirmed that Heath has not lived there since December 6th after threatening to burn down the residence.
After January 3rd, there have been no documented calls for service in Linn County, but there have been numerous documented calls in Johnson County, implying that she is now living here. By law, Heath was to have registered a new address within five days of moving and has not done so.
Heath was taken into custody and charged with a sex offender violation, an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by a jail sentence of up to two years if convicted. The two incidents last week carry combined sentences of up to over nine years in prison.
