A North Liberty-based solar installation company has closed its doors.
The Gazette reports that Moxie Solar came under new management earlier this year, but a company lawyer said that they didn’t have enough money to pay bills and claims against them.
Iowa Capitol Dispatch reported this summer that Moxie and several other Iowa solar companies were under investigation by the Iowa Attorney General’s office. Moxie Solar had 26 complaints against them.
The company had offices in 27 states and had been in business since 2008.
The lawyer, Siobhan Briley, said Moxie Solar’s creditors were notified earlier that they would be ceasing operations on December 2nd and would work with secured creditors to liquidate assets. Unsecured creditors were told that it didn’t appear there were enough assets to pay them back.
The Iowa Solar Energy Trade Association is referring Moxie clients who have unfinished projects to companies in its member directory. According to a press release from the Association, Moxie Solar was not a member.
