Iowa City man found with loaded pistol and marijuana after traffic stop

An Iowa City man was arrested this week after a traffic stop turned up marijuana and a loaded pistol.

22-year-old Jaywoski Lucas of Scott Park Drive was stopped near the intersection of Summit Street and Kirkwood drive Sunday afternoon because his 2014 Chrysler had excessively tinted windows. When he crossed over a solid white line making a turn, he was pulled over.

Upon contact, Lucas reportedly had the odor of burnt marijuana coming from himself and the vehicle. A probable cause search allegedly turned up about a gram of marijuana in a sandwich bag, several other sandwich bags containing marijuana shake, and a loaded Glock .45 pistol. Lucas reportedly admitted that the marijuana a gun were his.

He was arrested and charged with Person Ineligible to Carry Weapons and 1st offense Marijuana Possession. If convicted on both counts, Lucas could be sentenced to up to two years in jail.
