Travelers southbound on I380 will now use just one exit to get to Interstate 80.
As part of the massive I80-380 interchange project, southbound traffic will now use Exit 0 to travel in either direction on the east-west interstate.
Once the exit is taken, traffic will be split off; those heading east will veer left, while those heading west will veer right.
Hugh Holak, Iowa DOT resident construction engineer, tells the Gazette that the switch is another milestone for the project because everything is on new pavement and simplifies the interchange.
Work on the interchange will continue through 2024 with finishing touches wrapped up in 2025.
