An Iowa City teen faces charges that he threatened to shoot and stab staff and students at City High School.
According to Iowa City Police records, a 16-year-old freshman was told to leave the City High campus just before 11:15 Tuesday morning. Staff called the ICPD when he refused to go, which is when he reportedly threatened to stab and/or shoot them.
Police allege the juvenile initially said he was armed, then claimed he had access to a knife near campus and would arm himself and return to stab staff and students.
City High staff told investigators that the teen has made similar threats to them in the past.
The juvenile is charged with 1st Degree Harassment – Threatening a Forcible Felony. If convicted as an adult, he would face a maximum of two years in prison.
