Scammers are pretending to represent Swisher firefighters.
That’s according to a post on the Jefferson Monroe Fire Department Facebook page. It indicates people have been receiving texts claiming to be from the department, saying Swisher firefighter t-shirts are now $10 off.
One version of the text sent twice to KCJJ last weekend included a link that took the person to a web site that appeared to be selling official Swisher Fire Department t-shirts. A check of the link Wednesday night indicated the page at a site called “xmaxmin.com” has since been taken down.
The texts sent to KCJJ were from a 951 area code, which covers western Riverside County in California.
The Jefferson Monroe Fire Department says the text is a scam and that they are not selling t-shirts at this time.
