The opening weekend of high school football on KCJJ just got a whole lot more interesting.
City High announced on Monday that its football team’s opening game against Liberty will now be played at Kinnick Stadium. The game had originally been scheduled for Bates Fields.
The Titans Trophy game will be the first regular season high school game ever played at Kinnick Stadium. The Little Hawks won last year’s matchup with the Lightning 41-0.
The August 26th game at Kinnick Stadium can be heard right here on The Mighty 1630 KCJJ. The T-Shirt Mill is selling commemorative t-shirts and sweatshirts for the event, with $5 from each sale going to the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital.
KCJJ’s high school football coverage begins the night before the Kinnick game, on Thursday, August 25th, when we’ll have West High taking on Cedar Rapids Kennedy at Kingston Stadium. The next week we’ll carry Regina’s home opener against West Liberty.
