An underage Iowa man was arrested after damaging public property while intoxicated.

Police say 20-year-old Trent Scharpman was observed running into the Capitol Street parking ramp and breaking the entrance gate. Scharpman was allegedly stumbling, had a bar wrist band on, had the odor of ingested alcohol, and showed signs of measurable impairment.

A subsequent search of Scharpman reportedly turned up a fake ID making him appear to be of legal drinking age.

Scharpman has been charged with 1st degree Criminal Mischief, Public Intoxication, and Possession of a Fake ID. If convicted, he faces a prison term of over 11 years.
