A New Orleans, Louisiana man was arrested for OWI after crashing his pickup into a Coralville Strip building Monday morning.

Officers were called to the Guild Tavern just before 6:20 am after 22-year-old Jose Majia Martines allegedly crashed his Ford F-250 into the building. Upon contact, he allegedly smelled of ingested alcohol and had bloodshot watery eyes. Majila Martines reportedly had a hard time answering simple questions, such as if he was okay. He was also unaware that he had crashed into a building.

Majila Martines failed field tests and provided a PBT of .107 percent. A subsequent Datamaster test showed a higher blood-alcohol percentage, at .167 percent.

He was charged with OWI first offense, a serious misdemeanor punishable by a jail sentence of up to one year if convicted.
