An Iowa City man has arrested for assault twice in two days this week.

Police say the first incident occurred the 4th of July  at 11:22 am. 57-year-old David Snyder of Cross Park Avenue is reportedly seen on video at his apartment complex grabbing the male victim’s head and banging it against a door. Later in the day, Snyder allegedly approached the same victim and tried to get the victim to fight him by yelling and swearing at him.

Snyder was charged with simple assault.

Then the next afternoon, Snyder is again seen on video at Cross Park Place pushing the victim to the ground. The video allegedly shows the victim trying to walk away, but Snyder continued to engage the victim, grabbing him by the arm and swinging him around. During the ensuing struggle, Snyder got the victim to the ground and held him by the throat. He then allegedly proceeded to punch the victim repeatedly in the stomach and rib area until a staff member pulled him off.

The victim suffered a cut lip, red marks on his chest, a scratch on his back, and complained of head pain from when he hit the ground.

In the second instance, Snyder was charged with Assault causing Bodily Injury. With both charges pending against him, Snyder could be sentenced to up to 13 months in jail if convicted.
