A West Liberty woman was charged with Assault after allegedly slapping an EMS worker who was treating her.

According to the criminal complaint, while Iowa County Emergency Medical Services was transporting 50-year-old Christine Mullin of 330th Street to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics ER at around 9 pm Tuesday, she slapped an EMS employee on the left side of his face. The man was attempting to provide care for Mullin, and told deputies that she was irate as well as verbally and physically combative.

When they arrived at the UIHC, Mullin again reportedly got aggressive and irate. She allegedly spit on hospital security, and was verbally belligerent towards hospital staff and EMS.

Mullin was charged with simple Assault as well as Assault on Persons in Certain Occupations. If convicted, she faces up to 13 months in jail.
