An area transient who will be tried on car burglary charges was taken into custody earlier this week for an alleged liquor theft.

Police say 20-year-old Jeiden Fair was just recently arrested after being reported by witnesses rummaging through a vehicle on Plum Street Saturday afternoon. Then on Monday, Fair allegedly fled from the Waterfront HyVee with a bottle of whiskey. He was later located by police but ran from them. Once apprehended, Fair allegedly was found with pipes he admitted were used for smoking meth.

Fair was charged with 3rd degree Theft, Interference with Official Acts, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was already wanted by police for missing a case management conference earlier that day on attempted car burglary charges from February. Fair was also charged after an alleged liquor theft from the Keokuk Street Kwik Star.

The case management conference has been rescheduled for July 11th, the same date as his arraignment for Saturday’s incident. If convicted on all counts currently against him, Fair could be sentenced to over 11 years in prison.
