An Iowa City man who already faces decades in prison for repeated violation of the sex offender registry faces additional charges after allegedly lying about his current address.

Court records indicated that 35-year-old Lattiney Lockett was arraigned April 15th on nine counts of failing to notify the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department of his current address, which he’s required to do every quarter. He pleaded not guilty and trial was scheduled for August 9th, with a case management conference scheduled for June 17th.

On June 13th, Lockett went to the Sheriff’s office and said he needed to update his residency requirements to the 2100 block of South Riverside Drive, saying he had been living there since the 9th. A deputy went to the residence on the 14th and talked to the homeowner. They said that Lockett had reached out via email a few days previous and mentioned that he might be coming to live there, but nothing came of it. The homeowner said they had not spoken to Lockett about any further living arrangements.

On June 21st, a warrant was issued for Lockett’s arrest. He was taken into custody Friday afternoon and charged with a Sex Offender Registration Violation and 2nd or Subsequent Offense of Providing False Information.

With the previous charges, Lockett now faces up to 52 years in prison if convicted on all counts. His case management conference was delayed to July 17th; the trial date remains as scheduled.
