Iowa Democrats will have an early morning meeting with the Democratic National Committee’s Rules & Bylaws Committee tomorrow to make their pitch to keep the state the first in the nation for the 2024 election year.
Iowa is among 16 states and Puerto Rico who are trying to be included in the early voting window ahead of Super Tuesday in early March. The committee voted in April to reopen the nominating states, and require the current early voting states to re-apply for a spot.
Iowa has come under fire for lack of diversity and for using the caucus system to choose their candidates. State democrats are proposing to eliminate in-person attendance requirements as part of their changes.
The DNC will broadacast each state’s proposal on their YouTube page starting today. Iowa’s turn is from 7 to 7:35 am Thursday and can be seen on youtube.com/democraticparty.
