A drunk driving suspect faces charges that she assaulted an Iowa City Police officer.

According to arrest records, 23-year-old Rosalina Loops of North Dodge Street called 9-1-1 just after 2:45 Friday morning and claimed she was at the Riverside Drive McDonald’s. However, dispatchers say the call mapped to an address on Benton Drive.

Arriving officers found Loops’ car just before 3am and pulled it over near the intersection of Benton Street and Greenwood Drive. Police say Loops activated her hazard lights when she pulled over.

Loops allegedly showed signs of intoxication, performed poorly on field sobriety tests and registered a breath alcohol level of .142%. She was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated.

As officers were taking Loops into custody, she allegedly tensed up, tried to pull away and kicked the officer twice. She now faces additional charges of Assault on Persons in Certain Occupations and Interference With Official Acts. If convicted on all charges, Loops faces a maximum of 25 months in jail.
