A local transient has been arrested after disrupting a downtown Iowa City concert.
Iowa City Police were called to the Ped Mall just after 7:45 Friday night for an intoxicated subject harassing the high school students performing at the Summer of the Arts free concert series. Last Friday night’s performance was from the City, West and Liberty high school jazz ensembles.
50-year-old Keith Collins was arrested and charged with Public Intoxication.
Collins has a lengthy criminal history. He was arrested in December of 2020 for allegedly threating another man and cutting him with a knife…charges that were later dropped. Collins was fined $105 in April of 2021 for yelling anti-Muslim threats to employees at the Iowa City Bakery and Café on East Benton Street. In September of 2019 he was fined $65 for telling bouncers at The Union Bar on the Ped Mall that he had a gun and was going to shoot everyone inside.
If convicted on the latest charge, Collins faces a maximum sentence of 30 days in jail.
