A sixth arrest has been made in connection with a pair of brawls outside of an Iowa City nightclub.

32-year-old Shango Johnson of Cedar Rapids was booked into the Johnson County Jail just before 2:45 Thursday afternoon. Iowa City Police say Johnson was inside a vehicle parked in the L&M Mighty Shop parking lot on East Burlington Street at 3am on April 10th.  He was allegedly in possession of a package of marijuana. Johnson has numerous previous drug convictions. He’s now charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance – 3rd or Subsequent Offense. If convicted, he faces a maximum of five years in prison.

Police were in the Mighty Shop parking lot to respond to a reported fight. A woman with no known addresses was arrested for fighting others as well as police.

About 45 minutes later, at 3:45am, police were called to the nearby H Bar on South Van Buren Street for another fight…this one in the alley. A homeless man and two Cedar Rapids residents were arrested for fighting with each other and police.

A resident of the Pheasant Ridge apartments was arrested around 4am after allegedly trying to prevent police from arresting other suspects.

The ICPD Daily Activity Log shows Mighty Shop employees have previously called police about H Bar customers parking in their lot.
