The city of West Liberty has been awarded $200,000 from the federal government for a downtown housing revitalization project.
The money comes as part of $20 million given to Iowa communities through Federal American Rescue Act State and Local Fiscal Relief Funds. The program provides support for downtown revitalization through new housing opportunities in communities with populations of 30,000 or below.
The various investments are intended to support downtown housing projects in 61 communities, which state officials say will create 466 new homes for Iowans.
The West Liberty project is listed as an “Upper Story Conversion” of two units on a property at 317 North Spencer Street.
