An Iowa woman was charged with meth and marijuana possession after a traffic stop and a reported skirmish with officers.
Police stopped 45-year-old Jennifer Knerr of Brighton Iowa on Mormon Trek Boulevard at around 5:45 pm Sunday afternoon because the Pontiac she was operating had no plates on it. During contact, Knerr reportedly made furtive movements inside the vehicle trying to hide things. A K9 indicated the presence of narcotics, and she was asked out of the vehicle.
Once outside, Knerr allegedly began resisting officers by pulling away and refusing to put her hands behind her back. The arrest report indicates that the woman had to be taken to the ground during the arrest.
Knerr reportedly had a headphone case clenched in her fist that was seized by officers that contained a small baggie with crystal meth inside. A probable cause search of the vehicle then allegedly turned up a case containing loose marijuana, a pipe with marijuana residue, and a pipe with meth residue. More crystal meth was reportedly found inside a rolled-up dollar bill in Knerr’s purse.
A check of her records showed previous convictions for both marijuana and meth possession. Knerr was charged with meth possession 3rd or subsequent, marijuana possession 3rd or subsequent, and Interference with Official Acts. If convicted on the charges, Knerr faces a prison term of up to over seven years.
