An Iowa City man has been arrested after police say he damaged the apartment door of a neighbor who has a no-contact order against him.

33-year-old Christopher Cummings of South Johnson Street was booked into the Johnson County Jail at 6:15 Friday morning. Iowa City Police say Cummings went to a downstairs apartment in his building just after 6pm on April 21st and…according to the apartment’s resident and another witness…tried to break down the door. Investigators found the knob had been broken and there were several holes in the door, rendering it unable to open.

Cummings allegedly went to the apartment one week earlier, banging on the victim’s door while yelling threats just after 4:45am on April 14th.

A no-contact order is in place after Cummings threatened the other party with a crowbar late last year. Police say the two have had an ongoing feud.

Cummings is charged with 5th Degree Criminal Mischief and two new no-contact order violations after the latest incidents. If convicted, he faces a maximum of 30 days in jail.
