Iowa City Police have arrested a man they say admitted to smoking marijuana with his juvenile brother.

Officers pulled over a 2006 Buick Lacrosse being driven by 21-year-old Cortez Morrow of South Lucas Street just after 6pm on February 23rd on Dodge Street near its intersection with Court Street. Police say Morrow’s car had an expired registration, and it was driving in the bike lane.

The vehicle allegedly smelled of burnt marijuana. Investigators say Morrow initially denied possessing marijuana, but then admitted he had some inside the car after he was told it would be searched. Officers say they located 46 grams of marijuana in a pair of sandwich bags.

Morrow reportedly admitted that the marijuana was his, and that he uses it to smoke with his juvenile brother.

Morrow was booked into the Johnson County Jail and charged with a Controlled Substance Violation and Failure to Affix a Drug Tax Stamp. If convicted on both charges, he faces a maximum of ten years in prison.
