An Iowa City man was taken into custody over the weekend on warrants stemming from a March incident where he allegedly broke into a residential garage.
Police say the residents were home on March 11th just before 7pm when 18-year-old Xzavier Herman of Esther Court reportedly forced entry into an attached garage and stole several items. Among them were an Xbox gaming system and a vaporizer.
Video evidence allegedly puts Herman at the scene, showing his vehicle approach and park adjacent to the victim’s residence and then leave a few minutes later. Three days later, Herman reportedly is seen on surveillance video selling the items at Money and More on Riverside Drive.
The home’s residents reported damage to the garage’s walk in door, as well as a television and table.
A warrant was issued for Herman’s arrest; he was arrested Saturday afternoon. He’s been charged with 2nd degree Burglary and 3rd degree Theft, and could face up to twelve years in prison if convicted.
