Swisher firefighters fought a house fire south of Shueyville Friday morning.

According to the Johnson County Joint Emergency Communications Center web site, fire crews were called to 1388 James Avenue NE at 10:46am. The Jefferson Monroe Fire Department Facebook page indicates smoke was emanating from a single-story residential building. The fire was primarily extinguished by the homeowner before firefighters could arrive. An investigation determined the fire started in an external wall due to electrical issues. Further inspection showed extensive charring, but minimal damage to the structure overall.

There were no reported injuries. The North Liberty Fire Department provided mutual aid.
