A Burlington man is in custody after he was arrested on a nine-year-old warrant out of Iowa City.
Online court records show the warrant was served on 44-year-old Frankie Lee Smith on Monday. Iowa City Police say Smith approached an employee at a business on Independence Road around 5:15am on January 5th, 2013. Smith reportedly had not seen the other subject in years. The alleged victim reported that Smith told him not to go anywhere and left the scene. Smith then returned, got into a fighting stance, and allegedly threatened to physically assault the man.
The worker was alarmed and left work for the day. Three separate witnesses and security video all corroborate the alleged victim’s story.
Smith left the scene before police could arrive. He’s charged with 2nd Degree Harassment. If convicted, he faces a maximum of one year in jail.
