An Iowa City man has been arrested after police say he stole a beer keg from a downtown Iowa City bar.

Iowa City Police say they noticed 20-year-old Daniel Carlson of East Jefferson Street attempting to load the keg into the trunk of a car parked on Iowa Avenue near its intersection with Dubuque Street just before 1:45am Saturday. He allegedly showed signs of intoxication, smelled of ingested alcohol and admitted to drinking. Police say Carlson also admitted to stealing the keg from a downtown Iowa City bar.

Carlson allegedly refused to identify himself and refused breath testing. A fake Ohio driver’s license was allegedly found in his possession.

Carlson is charged with Public Intoxication, Providing False Identity Information and Possession of a Fake ID. If convicted on all charges, he faces a maximum of 14 months in jail.
