A Coralville man was arrested after allegedly threatening a woman by pointing an unloaded gun at her.
Police say 24-year-old Andy Anderson of 1st Avenue Place and the victim were in a dispute over their shared vehicle in the parking lot of their residence. Anderson was in the front driver’s seat and the woman was in the back passenger seat. He reportedly picked up a steering wheel locking device, prompting the woman to grab it. Anderson allegedly bit her twice on the left arm and once on her pointer finger, causing a bleeding injury.
Anderson is then accused of picking up his pistol from the passenger seat, racking the side and pointing it at the woman. The woman flinched, while Anderson allegedly laughed and said, “It’s not even loaded.” He then put the gun under his seat, where police reportedly found it, unloaded as Anderson stated, when they arrived on scene.
Anderson was charged with Domestic Abuse Assault with the display or use of a weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by a jail sentence of up to two years if convicted.
