A case management conference in the case of a former Iowa State University football player accused of sucker-punching University of Iowa basketball player Jordan Bohannon last spring has been delayed.

30-year-old Nicholas Kron, currently of Nashville Tennessee, played defensive end for the Cyclones in 2012 and 2013.

On May 23rd of last year, Kron and Bohannon were reportedly arguing outside of DC’s on South Dubuque Street after it had closed for the night. According to police, Kron allegedly sucker-punched Bohannon three times in the back of the head, knocking him down and causing a cut.

Bohannon was removed from the scene by three friends and taken to a local hospital for treatment.  University of Iowa officials would later say Bohannon suffered a “serious head injury”.

Video of the incident shows Bohannon was turned away from Kron at the time the punches were thrown.

Kron is charged with Assault Causing Bodily Injury, a Serious Misdemeanor punishable by a maximum of one year in jail.

The case management conference originally scheduled for Monday was continued by Judge Andrew Chappell to May 9th.

A civil suit brought by Bohannon against Kron was dismissed without prejudice by the court on January 20th.
