An Iowa City man faces assault charges after police say he committed the act on a live video stream.

A witness reported to Iowa City Police that they had seen 21-year-old William Humphrey hit a woman while streaming on Facebook Live just before 11:45 Tuesday night. Arriving officers say they found Humphrey at his Myrtle Avenue apartment. The alleged victim was also there and was identified as a woman who has lived with Humphrey over the last month, has a no-contact order with him and is expecting a child with him. The woman was treated by an arriving ambulance crew.

Humphrey was charged with Domestic Abuse Assault Causing Injury and a no-contact order violation. If convicted, he faces a maximum of one year in jail.

Humphrey was also wanted on a separate no-contact order violation for a March 2nd incident during which he was allegedly with the protected party at the Mercer Aquatic Center. Police say he was involved in an altercation and threw a brick at a car.
