A former Coralville firefighter has been killed on his way to a training class for his new job.

KRCG TV reports that Jason Lang took a job with the West Memphis Arkansas Fire Department this past December. He was stuck by a semi-truck along the side of an interstate Saturday morning. He reportedly had stopped to assist the scene of a crash while he was on the way to an EMT training class in Pine Bluff.

Lang was a member of the Coralville Fire Department for about a year before taking the job in West Memphis. He went to Liberty High School.
